I got one thumbs down for this post.
I would love to hear how this doesn't seem to be the case among JWs.
after observing my jehovah's witness friends and family members for over 50 years it became apparent that the vast majority of "the brothers and sisters" pick and choose the rules and laws that their church/organization what them to follow.. tough the society may state these admonitions as definite "do's and don'ts" many of the church followers put these admonitions in the the "grey zone.".
the reason being jehovah will give them special dispensation.
yes, for some odd reason jehovah will cut these people some slack for the same things he must punish others for.

Why is this?
The reason being Jehovah will give them special dispensation. Yes, for some odd reason Jehovah will cut these people some slack for the same things he must punish others for.
They vast majority of the organization including their leaders what "mercy for themselves and justice for everyone else."
Here are some of the many examples of the"grey zone" people are willing to live with, because Jehovah loves them more then other Jehovah's Witnesses.
Whether to turn friends and family members in for the crime of pedophilia
Masturbation
Oral sex among married couples
Watching "R" rated movies.
Whether to see/talk to dis-follow shipped family members
Alcoholism
Going to "Worldly functions" class dances, office parties and reunions
Gossiping
Lying on their income taxes
From the very top of their organization on down the rules are clear for everyone but themselves.
hi everyone.. i would love to collate the experiences of those who decided to disassociate.
the reason i am asking this question is that i have been in turmoil for a very long time as to whether i remain a fader or whether to bring closure on my membership with the watchtower organisation.. it is for this reason i would like to read about some of the experiences of those on this forum who went down the route of disassociation.
if could answer the following.
How long did it take you to decide to disassociate?
I had some doubts after Bethel. But because of family and friends I was locked in for another 20 years, by 1995 I realized it was total bull shit. By 2001 six years later I left after being in for over 50 years.
How has this impacted on you?
I lost my wife of 27 years and sister. Throw in all the friends I ever knew.
Has your mental health in any way been affected since you disassociated? Eg if being shunned by family.
That's a good question because many here on this web site think I'm nuts but I would have to say, no because my kids left too.
Do any of your current JW relatives associate with you? And if so to what degree?
No, The only family member I have left is a sister.
Do you feel your life is better now that you are completely free of the watchtower?
Absolutely. It's like asking is it better now that you have left Nazis Germany.
i think back on all the missed opportunities i could had not being a jehovah's witness.
however, now i'm thinking about all the fun i could of had if i had been a pimo and had fun in that position.
the possibilities are endless.
I think back on all the missed opportunities I could had not being a Jehovah's Witness. Which were many of course.
However, now I'm thinking about all the fun I could of had if I had been a PIMO and had fun in that position. The possibilities are endless.
Some of the things I wished I had none while still being in but out mentally.
1. At Bethel when I working there in the Laundry I thought how cool it would have been to steal one pair of Knorr's boxer shorts with his key number of "33" stamped on the front of them. I would have put them in a glass box and put them up on my living room wall, definitely conversation starter.
2. Of course I would have partook of the bread and wine at memorial.
3. Give a half hour prayer at the end of the Watchtower study....and talk about crazy and odd things.
4. Tell my kids it was all bull shit and just go along with it until they moved out of the house and then go college.
5. Become an elder and forgive everyone no matter what their sins were. Tell them to say just say "three hail Mary's and five our father's"
You get the idea. What do you wished you could have done to make them wonder if you were nuts?
As George Carlin said. "Make them think about it!"
of course they talk about all the really wacky ones everyone knows about, jones town, charles mason, heaven's gate and branch dravidian.
however if you add up all the unnecessary deaths these cults have contributed too (a thousand and fifty people) it pales in comparison to the number of people who have been directly or indirectly killed my the jehovah's witnesses.
by the way all of the cults mention above are no more, except for the watchtower bible and truck society.. the little ones seem to get all the attention and the big ones just slide on by.. .
Really so you want proof that more Jehovah's Witnesses kill themselves every year then in the general population.
I can only offer you the information I personal know.
Fact according to the internet one person out of 7,280 will kill themselves this year.
Fact, I have know eleven Jehovah's Witnesses or ex-Jehovah's Witnesses (some of whom couldn't live with the guilt of leaving that organization) who have taken their own lives.
I have met over 900 Jehovah's Witnesses that I have known personally. So personally judging by these numbers it looks like you are seven times more likely to kill yourself if you have had some kind of contact with that organization.
I don't need to know their names but how many people do you know that have killed themselves that have been associated to that organization?
celebrating holidays is wrong if you are a witness.
but almost every jw that i know of has turkey on thanksgiving day.
they say , every day is a day of thanksgiving.
The real reason this is true is deep down inside even the most stanch Jehovah's Witness you will find a person that want to be just like everyone else.

Steve The link to what.
Not just blood transfusions there are probably more that die from suicides than anything else.
We need to tell you about Jehovah the loving god. Yes this is same god that will soon killing off 8.5 billion people, many of which will never never even heard about him.
